I downloaded this pos software program that required me to install a java that is apparently different than the one I was running. This Java is called 1.31.4 and puts a fricking icon in my system tray. Now every site that uses java seems to take forever to load and I want to get rid of this. I went to my control panel and i have two java consoles 1.31.1 and the one I just dled. Should I just uninstall this new one? Is there something special I have to do to uninstall it?

If you use IE you should have a checkbox within **Tools** \> **Internet Options** \> **Advanced** that allows you to ‘deselect’ the new Java console.
