I’ve told this story here before. My wife manages an extended team of about 30, several of whom are Indians. She’s had at least one from a lower caste complain that in private, some of those from a higher caste treated her very poorly. And when my wife spoke to HR, they wanted no part of it. They were worried that any action would be called racist. If you recall, when CA tried to include caste in the list of protected classes, there were a number of Indians (presumably of higher caste) who called it racist. ---

Modi, the Indian Prime Minister, is a Hindu nationalist who many (including the US state dept) consider to have, at best, done nothing to stop a massacre of Muslims and at worst to have orchestrated it. And India is now 159th out of 180 countries in terms of freedom of the press. So, in the maga world he’s one of the good, “strong” leaders. However, Indians of any faith just look like scary Muslims to MAGAs, and any other faith than Christianity is evil anyway, so MAGA will never openly embrace them. If Vivek was still prominent I could imagine an attempt to claim Brahmin indians as one of the “good” races, but he seems to have vanished. ---
