# Jedi Mind Trick question

It’s just a really really blatant, in-your-face anti-drug scene. In other words, a message to the kids who aren’t watching the movie anyway.

Well, at least they don’t have to explain to the audience that what’s being pushed are drugs. I mean, if the guy had said, “Want to buy some Icanian pellets?” we wouldn’t know what was going on.
And seriously, the scene was added more for the comedic value than for any anti-drug message.

Actually something like “iconian white” would have been a better pick,it had subtlety and would have have been picked up by any audience member with half a brain.
And i think the jdei at least would be pretty anti-drug at least among the trainees,not clouding your brain and all.

My book on Episode II doesn’t say anything about clouding your mind, but the narcotic Death Sticks actually decrease your life span by successively larger intervals. Which the Jedi would probably not want either. The scene was definitely (IMO) consistent with Jedi philosophy, but I just don’t think that’s why it was in the film.

Isn’t there a French euphamism for orgasm that translates to “the little death”?
And I seem to recall a bit of Dennis Leary’s standup routine centered around the fact that if cigarette manufacturers would give more morbid names to their products, hard-core smokers would snap them up like wildfire.
