Not to put a damper on things, but I think she is really quite ugly. Well, put it this way, she has the beauty witheld for that sort of creature that would grace our screens in _Alien_. But I guess she’s got some sort of cute appeal. Like those tiny lizards in _Jurassic Park_. Not to brag, but I actually got asked out (about two years ago) by a good friend of mine (she wasn’t at the time) who looks _exactly_ like her. Needless to say what my answer was. Though **Lobsang** ’s link was especially enjoyable. Yes I relished it thoroughly. And **Airman** ’s gotta be some sort of genius to be getting away with the stuff he’s saying. If I posted this kinda stuff (me lusting after actresses) she’d kick my ass. What’s your secret? ---

So this is a real question, not just a come-in-and-piss-on-your-thread comment: I keep hearing about how awesome Jennifer Garner is, and I don’t see it. I mean, she’s pretty enough and all, but I don’t see how she could’ve become such a _phenomenon_. She looks a lot like a slightly less severe Hilary Swank to me. But, and here’s where the question comes in, I’ve never seen a single episode of “Alias,” and I haven’t seen _13 Going on 30_. (But I did see _Daredevil_, and I didn’t really notice her all that much). Is it one of those things where you have to see her in action for it to “work,” or are y’all claiming that she’s objectively knock-out gorgeous just in still shots? F’rinstance, my imaginary girlfriend is [Tina Fey](http://www.newyorkmetro.com/nymetro/news/nyawards/n_8103/index6.html), and she’s astounding, but I can see how someone who’d never seen her on “Saturday Night Live” could look at a still picture and wonder what was the big deal. (Same for [Rachael Harris](http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/best_week_ever/79739/episode_wildcard.jhtml?wildcard=/shows/dynamic/includes/wildcards/best_week/panelists_aux.jhtml&event_id=867867), my other imaginary girlfriend, who only reveals her true potent awesome sexiness once you’ve seen her on “Best Week Ever”). ---

FWIW, I find Jennifer Garner attractive and I haven’t seen Alias or 13 going on 30 or Daredevel. Come to think of it, I may have only seen previews and still shots. And on the whole “looks good in action but not in still shots” thing, I have to disagree with the idea that looking good in still shots is it the sign of true gorgeousness. For one thing you can tweak still shots quite a bit to make a person look good, so I don’t see this as very convincing of underlying beauty. In the second place we interact with people who move around rather than remaining static, so still shots are not a very real way to look at people. The sexiest people, in my opinion, look really good in motion. (I also find it a bit exciting to see someone who looks fairly plain in a still photo light up and become sexy or gorgeous when you see them move.) ---

Alias is my favorite show. Count me in as another who thinks Jennifer is drop-dead gorgeous. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- she is number one on my if-I-were-gay list. I have a crush on her, but not in a sexual way. Yeah, her ears are kinda big, and her forehead is high, but put the complete package together, and she’s one hot mama. Plus she’s just bad to the bone. ---
