I have a question for anyone who has posted that they dislike certain strong players who win many games because they don’t like their personality or behavioral eccentricities. I won’t quote any of the numerous examples. I don’t follow any sports, but do sports fans feel the same about certain extraordinary athletes? That is, does anyone say “Sure, Joe Blow is a great athlete, but I don’t like his personality?” ---

I just watched Thursday’s episode, having already read this thread, and I noticed that starting in the Double Jeopardy round, Troy stopped saying “uh” before his responses (though he continued to say it every time he selected a clue.) ---

And that dislike can stem from their actions on the field of play (Pete Rose, for example), or the comments they make off the field (Aaron Rodgers). But that doesn’t mean I no longer admire their accomplishments. I still believe that Rose belongs in the HOF. I was annoyed by Matt Amodio’s style of presenting his questions, but I still thought he was a fine player, and I wanted him to continue winning. ---

Are fans of Jeopardy! more likely to be annoyed by insignificant quirks than fans of other things? Worth asking. I would say probably not; people just enjoy pontificating on (social) media. ---
