Yes, Maureen was one of those annoying contestants who ended every selection with “please”. Glad to see her go. Other types who should be given a scolding between segments are those who say “um” or “I’ll take” before selecting. It slows things down and too often the board is not completed. ---

Maureen’s poor performance on Friday made me wonder: Has there ever before been a three-or-more-time champion whose streak ended with their finishing Double Jeopardy in the red? If so, what is the record for the longest winning streak that ended that way? ---

Usually, I’m not into Schadenfreude, but I did enjoy a bit of it when Mr Four-Perfect-Scores finished DJ in the red and therefore could not play FJ. Apparently, the skills to succeed at answering multiple choice questions about math and English grammar aren’t helpful when answering open-ended questions about general knowledge. Wikipedia says Ross joined the Primettes, forerunners of the Supremes, in 1959, so she’s been singing professionally for 63 years. It’s not a stretch that she’d be in her 80s or 90s now. Turns out that she’s 77; joined the Primettes at 15. Did Diana Ross release a new album last year? ---
