If it was so easy, why did one of the contestants miss it? Different people know different things. When the show has aviation or automotive questions, the contestants miss questions that are easy for me. When there’s anything related to recent music, it’s the other way around. ---

They have all been really easy this week. I can’t believe that one contestant thought Truman died in 1926. ---

When I heard that clue, and the name “Bess”, the only famous Bess I could think of was Bess Truman. Then I thought “well, I know Harry Truman didn’t die in 1926, so it can’t be that.” Then I focused on the rest of the clue and figured it out. I can understand how someone on the show, with all the pressure to make quick decisions and ring in first, could seize on the first part of the clue that they recognized and not do the extra mental processing. If I’m ever on the show, and say something stupid, I hope people will be as forgiving.
