Jeopardy! has been getting very loose with requiring full names lately, accepting only last names in circumstances that probably should have required first names as well. Earlier this week, they accepted just “Unser” when the correct response was “Al Unser.” Granted, the clue had already mentioned “his brother Bobby.” But there was a third Unser brother, Jerry, who was also a racer, although he died young. And of course, there’s also the younger generations: Al, Jr., Robby, Johnny, and even Al III. When talking about racing, just “Unser” is not nearly specific enough to pinpoint a particular driver.
