Actually, doesn’t that name mean “bastard”? (Literally “of the woman,” meaning without a father.) Sounds appropriate to me.

I believe that the current long-term capital gains tax rate is 15% and that New York Post article mentions a five-percent increase. So he’s selling now to avoid a five-percent increase in the tax rate, after having already dropped the sales price from $40 million to $25 million (without previously finding a buyer).

That’s basically what he’s known for, I think. Maybe, like Stan Freberg, his other accomplishments eclipsed his ad days. But all I’ve heard in recent years is asshole-spew from his direction, so this rant doesn’t surprise me.

(By the way, the funniest book on the golden years of advertising is _Down the Tube_ by Terry Galanoy. Find a copy if you can.)
