Are you thinking of Jim Bakker or Jimmy Swaggart? I’m not saying Falwell wasn’t a douchebag of the highest order and prone to plenty of underhanded stuff (detailed in his [Wikipedia entry](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_falwell)), but if he ever went against the principles he taught, he was good enough at it never to get caught. ---

You may be thinking of Swaggart. (If Falwell used them they’d probably have been more of the $500/hour massage variety.) ---

I’ll third it in that I lived in Lynchburg for four years while I was getting my undergrad. The school I went to had a kind of unfriendly rivalry with Liberty U, so I think if there had been any incident with hookers I would have heard about it. ---

Except, bummer, He has a new plague for lesbians that’s going into Beta Testing next week (feathers and lava- all you need to know), and then the week after he’s going to be in Charleston for a preliminary long overdue earthquake test… then He’s going to be keynote speaker at Bob Jones U.'s graduation… then it’s off for some long overdue R&R in Provincetown… then His daughter-in-law is throwing a surprise anniversary party for Jesus… Well the point is, God and Jerry will do lunch sometime. ---

[/QUOTE] You know, I googled it before I posted, evidently, I’m not the only one to make the error. However, in the interest of disliking him honestly. He was never caught with a $15 hooker. It was indeed Swaggert (why isn’t HE dead yet?) that was caught. Repeat, Jerry Falwell was never caught with a hooker. I’m still dancin’ though. Serves him right for having Phelps picket him. The apple never falls far from the tree. ---

He was a part of my childhood. He was not a part I’ll miss. I won’t say he didn’t have an influence on me–after hearing of his death I donated some money to the local Gay-Straight Alliance.
