I disagree that the point of a bar is to be hit on or that you don’t have right to have a drink in peace. ---

Yep, i’ve always held this opinion. It’s not like the fame and the attraction are unexpected in these sorts of careers; the people who set out to be models or actors or pop stars know exactly what type of public attention they can expect if they make it big. Of course, i’m also somewhat conflicted on the issue, because if there’s anything that makes me roll my eyes more than some attention-whore celebrity complaining about a lack of privacy, it’s the fucking morons in the general population who spend their lives obsessing about every little thing that celebrities do. ---

Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson willingly meet fans and have pictures taken, while Neil Peart doesn’t. They take pains in the doc to explain that Peart isn’t a shit about it, and he appreciates the fans, but he’s simply shy and uncomfortable around others (he doesn’t know, presumably, like fans). So he doesn’t do the meet-and-greets very often, if at all. Obviously, that’s a different take than this Jess Hart person, whom I’d never heard of either, and after looking at her pictures, I can confidently say I don’t find her attractive. I can also confidently say that if I saw her in a bar, she’d be perfectly safe from my advances regardless whether she talked to me first or not. Also compare and contrast Hart’s attitude with Penn and Teller’s. While Lee, Lifeson, Penn, and Teller are assuredly not supermodels in any sense of the word, they are celebrities, and I can safely bet who time will remember more. ---

If “in peace” means “no stranger may try talk to me” then you don’t have a “right” to that in _any_ public place, but especially in a bar, which is specifically meant for people to make themselves socially available. You have a right to a drink in peace at home with your curtains drawn. ---

Dude, I was pointing out that millions of strangers get together and live happily ever after. It’s the way things work. Approaching a stranger in a bar with intentions of hooking up is not harassment. In the real world lots of folks actually do **want** to date - and in many cases that includes having sex. Seriously, lighten up. I’m not making a case in court, just pointing out the hypocrisy in your post. ---
