All methods of contraception can fail – both in terms of avoiding pregnancy and preventing disease. That’s why the term “safe sex” is really a misnomer. And on the other end… What in God’s name is going through the _womans_ head? “Hmmm…let’s see…he’s my boss, a respected moral leader, a minister, AND he’s married. I wonder if I should have an affair with him? Hmmm…Hmmm…” Really, shouldn’t an adult have a circuit breaker pop out at that point? Where’s the “Wait a minute! I am willing to bet that Jesse was barebacking his baby’s momma. This morning on MSNBC, Don Imus had a hilarious parody of Jesse preaching, a la Operation PUSH: “I banged somebody,” as in “I am somebody,” and “keep the ho’ alive,” as in “keep the hope alive.” I don’t judge the guy for having human weakness, but it is hypocritical of him to be preaching about responsiblity and how ghetto teens should stop having babies out of wedlock, and then he does the exact same thing. Just goes to show that you have to watch out for those religious types, like Swaggart, Bakker, and now Jesse; men of the cloth sure seem to be a randy lot. ---

While I don’t want to be obnoxiously judgemental on others, I will say this: many people have rushed to his defense, saying that he was paying child support. From what I’ve heard, the child support was upwards of $10,000 a month. That’s 120 grand a year he was paying in child support. Now, I don’t know anything about how the official “child support” system works, but this seems like a lot of money to be awarded a child. If child support is ordered paid by a judge, wouldn’t the news of Jesse’s child have come out earlier? And if Jesse voluntarily (and under the table) paid this woman $10k a month, doesn’t this draw suspicion of a payment meant to keep the woman quiet? ---

Jesse probably didn’t need to pay this woman to “keep her quiet”, but a few payoffs around the office might have gone a long way. From what I heard the other day (TIME magazine), it was the worst-kept secret in that office for a long time. Jesse has _allegedly_ been sleeping at his son’s house for weeks or months, ever since Jackie (his wife) stormed into the office, accusing the mistress of getting pregnant on purpose to trap her husband, and telling Jesse to get the hell out. My guess is that it was the other employees who ratted Jesse out to the tabloids. I agree that it is tragic that the wife & kids have to see & hear all of this every time theyturn on a TV or radio, but I guess Jesse should have thought about that a while ago. What is this myopia that seems to infect public figures? This idea that they are somehow bulletproof and will never get caught, when in fact they **know** that there are people out there watching like hawks for one mistake so that they can break a story? Little head doing the thinking, Iguess. ---
