The thread title is currently painted in giant letters on a billboard on I-35E north in St. Paul, just before the downtown exits. I don’t want to profile Christians, but come on. Not one person involved was able to spot this? ---

I Googled the phrase with that spelling to see if it was some kind of pun or something, and nothing came up. Now the number one hit is this very thread. I think it’s just a legitimate misspelling, which is astonishing, since you’d think at least the commissioned painter would know the difference. ---

Ha! I’ve seen that sign. Boyfriend and I were driving down 35E and we saw it and went “…the fuck?” He actually didn’t realize it was misspelled at first until I pointed it out to him. ---

Well, he might just not care as long as he’s guaranteed to get paid. Or he tried pointing out spelling errors to a previous client and got yelled at. Or the people who hired him were obnoxious enough that he refrained from mentioning it as payback. ---

In a nearby town last year, I saw a green DOT sign that indicated the way to “Colubmia.” When I passed thru a month later, they had replaced it. A year or so ago in Charlotte, one of the signs read “Indepednence Blvd.” This is a big, big highway in Charlotte, so the misspelling got a lot of attention. And for years, at a local animal shelter, there was a sign pointing the direction to the “Spray/Neuter Clinic.” ---

Maybe the leaders of this congregation do not have English as their first language, or even the western alphabet as their first script. Certainly, _someone_ should have caught it, but think of the spelling errors that one sees in menus at some ethnic restaurants. ---

I wonder the same thing about this shop on the north side of Chicago called “Sexy Girls of the Hollywood”. I imagine conversations between the sign/awning guy and the non-english speaking owner; “OK, but you don’t need the ‘of’ in this, you sure you…” ‘YES! PUT ON SIGN!’ “Seriously though, I mean, Sexy Hollywood Girls would be…” ‘NO! SEXY GIRLS OF THE HOLLYWOOD! PUT ON SIGN NOW!’ “You’re sure” ‘YES! PUT ON SIGN!’ “It’s yer money pal” Really, it’s a circus in my head. ---
