Jesus and the needy question

Do you mean “need answer fast”? No. My question was answered. The irony of this thread is the angry responses.

You seem like a very angry person. Christ, you have some sort of crutch.

Yeah, whatever. You’ve misinterpreted everything else in this thread…including the words of the subject it supposedly is about.

I acknowledged my ignorance and was happy I got an answer. You seem to want to beat me down ala Blues Brothers nun style.

Wow. WTF am I misinterpreting? Please, tell me. Better yet, enlighten the people who gave me the answer.

*Read the book, *dude. Looks, here’s a quick abridged version with just His Words. http://www.teachingsofjesus-inhiswords.com/

When come back, bring knowledge.

Holy Christ on a fucking picklestick, I asked the question BECAUSE I was lacking knowledge. I don’t have time to read/crossread/interpret/ask live witnesses/ask dead witnesses/your fucking pious grandmother/father who have knowledge of bible and Jesus’ teachings.

It should take less time that you spent here- ignoring those who did answer your question. A fast reader could read all the actual words of Jesus in about half an hour.

You had no trouble providing a link that had everything but the words attributed to Jesus in a previous post, and here someone has given you exactly what you want on a silver platter.

Actually, no, it didn’t. I read the quotes and wasn’t sure how they were to be interpreted. I was told how they were to be interpreted.

Unbelievable. You both are either trolling or I’m not sure what your intentions are. My question was answered upthread.

Accusations of trolling are not permitted outside of the Pit. Don’t do this again.

WTF? I said TWICE that my question was answered and they keep on keeping on!

Maybe the OP means Matthew 25:31-46 -

It doesn’t specifically reference the homeless, and the distinction does not seem to be made between helping the poor yourself or donating to charities who will do it on your behalf - just between doing nothing and doing something.

But Christ didn’t condemn those who donate to worthy causes - He praised the centurion who built a synagogue, and I doubt the centurion did the work with his own hands. And the story deals specifically with delegating authority -

So there isn’t much to indicate that Jesus thinks you have to do it yourself or it doesn’t count. There weren’t as many charities in Jesus’ day, and a lot more poor, including poor people who would die if nobody helped them.

Don’t mind the sniping - you tend to get that on any religious question on the Dope.

Shodan

Two things:

  1. No one is forcing you to respond to anyone in this thread, especially if you’re already satisfied with the answer you received.

  2. If you think someone else is breaking the board’s rules, report it. Don’t break the rules yourself.

If you want to discuss the moderation further, please start an ATMB thread.

Noone is forcing them to respond either, but that is conveniently overlooked. I will follow the rules.

Well, given that the vast majority of this country is Christian, and, we still have poor, homeless and needy people, I’d have to say you all are not doing your job or following gods spiritual commandments.

That doesn’t follow.

Shodan

So, is your generosity restricted to jackets and food only? Or, if they need shoes does that count too?

Why do you still have stuff? If you have two of something, aren’t you supposed to give the extra one away? Do you have more than one pair of shoes???

This passage is from the NT, you know, the words of Jesus.

Why do you have more than one pair of shoes???

What about hungry people, why do they still exist in a christian nation???

In terms of semantics, yes, you are correct. Congratulations, you win the meaningless distinction award of the day.
