God secretly hates everybody. He tells different groups they’re his chosen people, then watches them war against each other. Anyone who doesn’t get involved, he strikes them with a tsunami or a volcano or a hurricane, then convinces the believers that it’s all part of his mysterious benign plan that they can’t understand. On the other hand, maybe there is no God. ---
