So have any of the dittoheads, who always blame a disaster on “God’s anger towards the sinners”, chimed in on why Butter Jesus became Extra-Crispy Jesus? Please post any quotes or links. BTW, now we know why Michelangelo worked with stone instead of Styrofoam. ---

I have no quotes/links, but I’ve read more than one (non tongue-in-cheek) reference to the god of the bible’s hatred of graven images, which I think is just bullshit when people of the Christian persuasion bring this up, because a) they didn’t worship the fucking statue, and b) I think a decent argument could be made (from their way of thinking) that any big or elaborate church could be accused of being a “graven image”, as could the very crosses/crucifixes that hang in every church in Amur’cuh. As with seemingly everything else related to Christianity/the Bible, it’s a decidedly random, selective process deciding which aspects of life/society/humanity to scorn and which to cherish. ---

Oh no links or anything but I imagine the god apologists and/or god’s motive spinsters will point to how no people were killed in the incident and that was a miracle from god. Or how the statue was somewhat known but now it’s really famous and the donations are just pouring in to rebuild it and it’s really a gift from god in disguise. ---

A Danish newspaper had a note about it, “Jesus statue struck by lightning, catches fire. Porn shop across the street undamaged.” (I am paraphrasing). _Please_ tell me there is a porn shop across the street. ---

The Louisville Courier-Journal [article](http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20100617/FEATURES10/6170329/Word+of++Touchdown+Jesus++statue+fire+brings+donations+from+around+the+nation) also has a recording of three 911 calls. They are so nonchalant about the whole thing. That struck me as extremely funny.
