# Jet lag before jets?

[Earlier thread about the topic](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/during-the-age-of-steamers-would-people-complain-about-jetlag/853986/7) (which I started). I would argue that a jet lag of one hour per day (which is achievable by railroad or steam ship travel) may be enough to make people complain; after all, people complain about the transitions to and from DST, which are by the same amount.
