I definitely misheard it the same way but “paper bag” sounds like a really dreadful flight.

Speaking of Paul McCartney songs about jets, in Jet I misheard “suffragette” as “suffer again”.

“Oh, flew in from Miami Beach BOAC  
Didn’t get to bed last night  
On the way the paper bag was on my knee  
Man, I had a dreadful flight”

_These lyrics describe a flight from Miami to the Soviet Union, highlighting the long distance and the struggle of traveling across the world. However, the mention of the paper bag on the knee is a reference to the tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The U.S. had recently imposed restrictions on Soviet travelers, leading to the use of “diplomatic mail” to transport goods._

I had always imagined a leisurely flight, so much so he had his paperback in his lap. These lyrics turn it into a nail-biting, stressful trip.

Now that I know the right lyrics, I assumed that the paper bag was the barf bag.

That’s what i always assumed…  
I think that “_Old Time Music_” has “sanitized” it a bit.

I think that “_Old Time Music_” is why linking to someone who supports an idea is irrelevant to the idea’s truth or falsehood.
