I am not going to delete this thread–it should serve as an abject lesson in how not to construct a discussion. However, it is clearly well off the rails with far too many posters wanting to simply take shots at the OP. It has no hope of turning into a serious discussion. Therefore, I am going to close it. Asking why any particular group _tends_ to follow a particular path in American politics should not raise quite so many hackles. Making sweeping generalizations about any group–then making highly visible errors, (_e.g._, Krauthammer and Murdoch)–will never have a satisfactory conclusion. The underlying question of the OP may be posted again, although I would strongly suggest that the question be posed in a more neutral manner. Closed.
