They wanted him to fail to enact his legislation/policies, but they didn’t want him to fail in the sense of the country failing to achieve its goals (peace, prosperity, etc.) during his administration. The plenty of voices on the left were the ones who were pointing out that he was fail_ing_ – to formulate and implement reasonable policies. ---

I was \*afraid \*that he would fail, and really wanted to be proven wrong. I think you’d have a very hard time finding any “voices on the left”, as loud or as visible as those currently on the right, who wanted Presidential failure. ---

Loads of folks on the Left suppressed their opposition to war when we invaded Afghanistan. Quite a few of them went along with the Iraq war as well, until it turned out that every “reason” given was a lie. Bush did fail. He failed to get bin Laden. He failed in his quest to have a quick war in Iraq, leaving a huge fucking mess for his successor to clean up. His policies failed the economy. His policy of torture has made it impossible to prosecute most of the people we did catch. And, most astonishingly, he managed to convert the empathy of the rest of the world in the aftermath of 9/11 and flushed it down the shitter. All these failures had nothing to do with the Left and everything to do with personal flaws, poor character and a monumentally bad choice for Vice President. ---

A pretty good rant, but listen very carefully. In the first part (over ten minutes) of emotional, improvised speech, he said “uh” exactly once. That is very remarkable. (He does breath loudly to pause for thought.) A really fine speaker. ---

All you have to do with a guy like that is show him his mark and give him the stick. You should see some of his stuff from back in the day, even if you’re not a wrestling fan. Cornette put asses in the seats. ---

Wow, the Views jumped from a few hundred yesterday to 3,318 currently, so maybe it will go viral. I hope so. This guy needs to be a guest on Maddow, or Olbermann or The Daily Show or, considering his love of **Religulous** in Part 2, Bill Maher’s show. ---

Most people use some kind of pause sound and they’ve been shown to have communicative value. The only issue is when the “uhs” become overwhelming. ---

I never heard of this guy before I found this thread, but then I don’t pay any attention to pro rasslin’. Sure, it’s entertaining as hell, but I think pretty much the last thing we need is this as a model for political discourse. Hearing this rant, I can’t get the image of President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho (from _Idiocracy_) out of my head, and it frankly depresses me. ---
