# Jim Hagedorn (R-MN1) has died

Knew he got COVID, forgot about the kidney cancer.  
He was my rep. I’m guessing at this point the spot will remain vacant.  
Other than Rochester, the district is pretty red (rural, my county has \< 20,000), though it has gone D

I was wrong – there will be a special election Aug 9, that person will serve until January.

Also my district. MPR reported an August special election is planned. I’m betting his wife, a former GOP operative, will run and win as a sympathy candidate. I always thought she was the driving force in their marriage, playing kingmaker, but I forgot that Jim’s father Tom Hagedorn was a previous congressman.
