(Note: the following is meant to be a generalization, not pointing fingers at anyone in this thread.) Am I the only one who’s a little rubbed the wrong way with some folks’ rolling of eyes on topics like this? Without specific context (e.g. the fact, IIRC in this case, the subject of this thread has publicly gone out with a guy to events), it sounds an awful lot to me like “look at him; he doesn’t look/act/dress like a “normal” masculine guy, so duh, of course he’s gay.” (And for that matter, the way some people say that not finding and marrying a woman before age X MUST be a sign of homosexuality makes me wonder if it’s a factor behind the divorce rate…) ---

It’s that they behave in a manner that has a higher correlation with gay than straight people. Little things can be tells, like never talking about your girlfriend, never being seen in public liking girls, always being around a male roommate, etc. None of these show a lack of masculinity, just a desire not to claim to be straight. ---

Count me as one who never thought that Parsons was “in.” In fact, I don’t believe I ever gave his personal life any consideration at all before today, and I am quite certain this will again be of no interest to me before my morning coffee break. ---

Johnny Galecki has been the subject of gay rumors, perhaps because he’s unmarried and has played so many gay characters on stage and screen, but in fact what he kept closeted was that he was involved with Kaley Cuoco until recently. (Galecki became a sort of sweetheart to Gay-merica for a while when he said he never corrected the gay rumors because he understood why some people made the assumption and because, unlike certain celebs who have sued over them, he never considered being thought of as gay an insult.)
