There’s nothing wrong with CTs, though the ones I listed are on the outlandish side. Any explanation of American involvement in Syria (or Iraq) will be a CT. It’s all speculation until documents are released in a couple decades, or Wikileaks or someone does the public a favor. Yet people still argue why American planners were so interested in Vietnam despite reams of material. The only thing I know about RFK Jr. is that he’s an anti-vaxxer.

Straight Dope used to be a place where people could go to ask other people they believed could answer questions for answers or something insightful. I think it is changing. People’s first answer to your question is usually something rude and written to shut the person down — the underlying message is you are not one of us, of way lower intelligence, … so they write something rude to shut the person down.
When I post on forums I usually hope it will lead to a fun conversation or I will learn something from it. I don’t hope to be ridiculed an bullied.
The people on here who where doing that to me… they need to be told not to answer someones questions with sarcasm and insults.

I’m constantly baffled by the view that it was Obama’s idea for the West to get involved the Libya conflict. The US got on board very early (with Clinton latching onto rumors of mass rapes that subsequently proved false) but it was Nicholas Sarkozy who hitched up the bandwagon for everyone else to jump onto, with David Cameron also being an early adopter.

But Jimmy is seen more often speaking and so by volume spewed out, he is the biggest fool. Losing to win later on is a terrible strategy. Trump is a populist and his support has already rebounded in the afterglow of winning the election. He could win a second term, and all those liberal things Jimmy cares about where Hillary would be closer than Trump get set on fire. But Hillary won’t turn into an isolationist and would continue drone strikes! Guess what Jimmy, so will Trump. WAKE the hell up. Stupid people like him are a true scourge. We are not supposed to bash them, it’s not their fault for being that dumb, but they cause so much ruin and suffering they need to be removed from all levers of power and influence.
