Adblock ftw. Or the little x. (at home anyway) Unfortunately at work I’m on a goofy shared work and clicking the X doesn’t persist between browser sessions. And I can’t install adblock. JIMMY WALES GET OUT ---

It’s affected by adblock for you? I want to say it shows up on my home PC, where I use Chrome with an adblocking addon that works for everything else. ---

I don’t know about the adblock on Chrome, but you can add things to the adblock filter on Firefox. That said, I’m actually finding that I see the guy’s face even after I’ve clicked the X. Usually, it’ll be back by the next day, especially if I used google to get to the page. ---

I love Wikipedia, but when I see Jimmy Wales all I see is a guy who _really_ doesn’t need my money. It can’t be just the accident of the blue shirt, but this photo reminds me of nothing so much as [Smug Bastard](http://www.b3takit.co.uk/smugbastard.jpg), in some way that I can’t quite articulate. It’s the absolute opposite of anything that might encourage me to get out my chequebook. ---

Clicking on his picture and adding it to adblock does not work. I’ve don’t it a few times. They might have a few transparent gifs over the actual picture. I haven’t looked into it as the next action is to click the small close X. ---

I am glad to have found this thread. I was wondering if anybody else has gotten annoyed with the Jimmy Wales appeals … and they now have pictures of him!! The banner ads are very annoying. The progress bar showing the amount of donations is a lot less annoying. I guess it could be worse…such as the ringtone pop up that occurs on Lyics sites. I already tried to click the X in the corner on the “personal appeal” banner.
