“Robin Laid an Egg The Batmobile Lost its wheel And…” When you were growing up what was the next line? For me it was “and the commissioner broke his leg”. I never heard “And the Joker got away” until I was an adult (it may have even been when they did that way on Batman TAS ). What was it for you? ---

As a kid in the 1970s, in Illinois and Wisconsin, I heard “the Joker got away” more often, but I definitely remember hearing both versions. ---

The first time I heard it was when Bart Simpson sang it. It’s always been “…and the Joker got away.” Which is much more relfective of actual Batman plotlines than Gordon breaking his leg. ---

“commissioner ran away” - that makes no sense, but it is how I sing it in my head. MN, 1960’s. I should check with the siblings, I’m semi-famous for mondegreens. ---
