Why do you say improbable? Is it because she never acted on those alleged desires - lived that life style? Was she accused of that at “trial”

She was never accused of having “unnatural relations” (which is probably how it would have been phrased in those times).
From the historical record, she does not seem to have had any romantic interest in her life.

She was quite young when they killed her so perhaps her sexuality had not blossomed yet. Perhaps she was the things she claimed. We’ll never really know.

Apropos nuthin’, I’d point out that there is no particular reason to assume that one cannot be both a nut (religious or otherwise) and a great military commander. Stonewall Jackson and Georgie Patton being prime examples. Comes to killing people wholesale it just might be a lunatic yer looking for.

For those of you who get Turner Classic Movies channel (TCM), they are show Carl Dreyer’s _Joan of Arc_ this Sunday, Nov 7, at 11 PM CST … one of the great silent movies. Not to be missed.

There are the times when the absence of a subscription to cable is sorely felt.
CK is right, Renee Falconetti’s portrayal of Joan of Arc is one of the greater ones. Definitely not to be missed!

Not that I’m an expert on the subject but, apparently, Jackson was a hard core religious fanatic. Even in an era when many of the commanders were deeply and sincerely religious (like Bobby Lee) he supposedly stood out. He was on a personal mission from God to destroy the evil Yankees and protect God’s own country, the Confederacy. (Makes it doubly ironic that he was killed by his own side).
As I say, I’m no expert and open to evidence to the contrary.

Nor am I but I’ve never heard that about him. That description might fit just about the whole South at the time.
