Can’t stand the woman, always thought she was a mediocre B - Lister. The cheapshot meanness of her current schtick undercuts any humor in her jabs. Of course, morbid curiosity led me to watch the aborted interview. Did anyone else notice that her tone of voice provided the only indication of her anger? Little if any change in her facial expression beyond her lips moving a little. Her preposterously artificial face is ghastly, the Uncanny Valley effect in reverse. . ---

I enjoyed the documentary made on her about 2 years ago called Piece of Work. She’s kind of a nutcase, but very hard working. She does seem to be fame obsessed, trying to keep her fame and glory going. Michelle, her daughter, said that while technically an only child, she did have a sibling…Joan’s career. I also think if she ever stops touring or working, she’ll be dead more quickly than Andy Rooney was. She obviously way overreacted in that interview. What a great break for the interviewer, though. A walkout when you’ve done nothing wrong is golden. ---

Looking at it another way, I can see where Rivers might’ve thought the interviewer was either looking for an apology (come on) or trying to get her to slip up and say something that could’ve been made into the subject of a controversy. The problem is that she wound up in the same position by storming out instead of just letting the interview peter out, and it was an overreaction anyway. ---

She’s 183 years old. She gets to walk out of an interview if she wants. Besides, I was on her side. The anchor woman looked like a pampered baby. And Joan made a good point. Life sucks, and if you can make it funny, good for you. ---

That interviewer was just asking fairly normal questions. Joan is tough enough to handle that fairly fluff interview. ---

She seemed nuts when she stormed off of The Apprentice a few years ago, too (“You’re a poka playa! A POKA PLAYA!”). She seems to have a very thin skin for a comediane. Maybe it is from being stretched too much? 😉 The sad part was, after her hissy fit quiting the show, she came back and won! ---

I had no idea what that was, so I went and watched a video of it. I thought I had seen some shitty cartoons before, but that takes the cake. I’m guessing after she burned her bridges with Johnny Carson (and all the power he had) for The Joan Rivers Show, got fired from that, and her husband committed suicide, she got sort of paranoid about being broke. Eh, I guess she was funny in her day, but her day was LONG ago. ---

At 81 she has to be losing some mental acuity, or perhaps she didn’t hear the question the right way. I watched it, and I couldn’t tell if her reaction was a stunt or not. She certainly doesn’t come across as an edgy comedian any more, but more of a cantankerous old woman. ---
