BTW, at the “have you any questions to ask us?” bit near the end of an interview, I have found that a good question to ask is: “At this point, do you have any unvoiced reservations about me as a candidate for this role?”.

This hopefully does one of two things - it either cements their view that you’re the right person, or it offers you the opportunity to resolve/answer any doubts they may have before you walk away.

To be frank, I’d probably not answer that question honestly as a hiring manager. Has one ever given you concrete concerns when you’ve asked that question?

A better question to ask might be “Is there anything about my qualifications for this job I can clarify or expand on?”.

No, but then I only formulated this question during my recent job search, and I got the job (and the question was received well, and thoughtfully), so I guess I don’t have any examples of when it worked badly.
