It’s Amaterasu[-ō-mi-kami], and to answer your question: not any more. And, the descent was actually from her son, who was the first to conquer Japan (and _his_ son, her grandson, was Jimmu-tenno, the first Emperor).

Catherine was his second wife, and yes she was basically a camp follower (and not much is known about her parents, but they both were most likely peasants). Peter the Great’s first wife was Eudoxia, who he had shut in a convent when he got tired of her.
