I loved the Disney Date too. I especially loved how they cut to the evil step-sisters back at the castle in the middle of it. 🙂

Let’s face it, the only reason he picked Sarah is because he’s been thinking with Little Evan since the tango lesson.

Yes, but I don’t think they have to actually apply any pressure. In the episode, they showed him walking and talking with Paul. During this scene, Paul’s v.o. explained how Evan used him as a sounding board to help him decide who to keep and who to dump.

Pressure need not be involved: the Producers tell Paul who they want for the next round, then as Evan discusses it with Paul, Paul can gently persuade him. I mean, c’mon… it’s not like it’d take some serious Jedi Mind Tricks to influence Evan.

Further, at the pickin’ ceremony, who calls out the girl’s names? _Paul_. You know, just in case Evan changes his mind or–more likely–forgets.

“Uh, Paul, I, uh, thought, I was, uh, gonna keep, uh, Mojo, cause she’s, like, uh, a total package,” Evan drones, befuddled.

Paul calmly explains: “No, Evan, you said that you wanted to keep Melissa instead; Mojo’s too pushy.”

“I wanted to keep Melissa instead; Mojo’s too pushy,” Evan replies.

**Editing.** His date with Melissa might not be as bad as it appeared; you saw 7 very carefully chosen minutes of footage from a 4-hour “date.”

I have absolutely no illusions that we’re seeing accurate footage of how well the dates actually went. I could take 4 hours of footage from the most successful date in the history of romance and make it look as if the couple loathed each other.

A good example of this last night was the end of the Mojo date. It was implied that they went into her room and did the nasty, but if you think about it they just spliced it up to look that way.

Another would be Zora’s leaving the hot tub. It’s edited to appear as if she left in a huff, but what do you really see? You see her swinging her legs out. Then you see her walking up the path. What if she DIDN’T leave first - what if she just got up to get another towel or grab a bottle of booze, and the footage of her leaving was taken later, when she left after everyone else? It would have been easy enough to splice together frames of the hot tub party where Zora wasn’t visible, even if she was there. Then later you see footage of her getting into bed, but she had to go to bed at some point, so what does that prove?

Again, that’s editing. When a girl asks “So what are you going to do with the money?” and then Evan sits there and says nothing, the reaction shot you’re seeing isn’t the way he reacted to the question. I absolutely guarantee you that you didn’t see or hear what he actually responded with. The reaction shot is spliced in from a completely different point in the conversation to make it APPEAR as if he’s speechless, when in fact he probably had a glib, quick lie to smooth things over. Even the world’s dumbest dork would not be THAT unprepared for questions he knows are coming, and the show’s producers wouldn’t allow him to be that much of a dead giveaway.

Someone who actually sat there and stared at you in fright every time you asked a question about the money would be a DEAD giveaway. If you asked someone about the money 5 times and 5 times you got “uhhhhhhh” and a terrified expression as a response, well, the world’s biggest airhead would clue into that. You are not being shown his real response.

Zora might be onto him in a general sort of way. She’s obviously not great friends with the others, though again it’s hard to tell with editing. But it would be consistent with the way she seems to act if she just smells something fishy about the whole situation. Maybe she’s watched the FOX network before and know this sort of thing never ends well. I mean, if I’m on a reality show, I would assume I was going to get screwed.

Based on what we’re shown, it seems to me Sarah has already won. Melissa made the cut only because Mojo pulled the inadvertently disastrous move with the $1 million cheque, and Zora’s making the cut only because she seems legitimately non-materialistic and presents a challenge. But he’s already made out with Sarah and he visibly likes her more than anyone else. Unless there’s a disaster, she’ll “win.” Which, of course, will end up being less of a victory than she’s probably anticipating, unless Joe Millionaire really is a millionaire (as I have theorized he is.)

The point about Sarah is interesting. I’m, er, familiar with the Helpless Heroines website, but haven’t followed Joe Millionaire to any great extent.

So, how do you guys feel about it? Is anybody shocked, amazed or outraged that a woman who would appear on Joe Millionaire would be a bondage model? Does this Change Everything? Or is it more like, “mmm, interesting, but so what?”

More of a “so what” reaction for me. Zora is gorgeous, and I really hope things work out well for her, but the rest of the women, I could care less about. I can’t think of anyone aside from Z who doesn’t seem more preoccupied with the money. As for their “seeded pasts,” eh, look at where they are now. Don’t really expect huge morals to be ingraned in someone looking to marry a guy simply because it gets them on T.V.  
One question my friend and I are debating. In the “slurp, slurp, gulp” date, we speculated that it wasn’t exactly sex, but someone was going down on somebody. The debate is: Who went down on who? I suspect he did the work because all the "Oooh"s and "Ahhh"s were coming from her and I don’t recall him making a single sound, but my friend believes it’s the other way around. Any other speculations?

I know I’m saying this every week, but … man, I love this show.

I think Evan’s getting a bit of a bad rap. Yeah, he’s no rocket scientist, he’s a construction worker. But he’s not retarded either. I think FOX picked him perfectly, as (aside from his looks) he’s a pretty “average joe”. I understand that the editing and briefing can do a lot, but I think he really is pretty geniune.

I mean he’s a GUY, of course he’s swayed by boobies. He can’t help it. I find it very refreshing when he says stuff like, “I think she’s really cool and fun to be with… and she’s really sexy.” Cuz it’s what we’re all thinking. I mean, no one in that hot tub was just ok looking. Even “Disney good girl” Zora is freaking hot.  
But at the same time, it’s not the _only_ thing he’s looking for. Alison was hot too, remember, but it wasn’t clicking and he could see it.

From the previews, I thought Zora was next, but their date this week seemed to go really well until the hot tub. Not as er… well as Sara, I guess. but I’m wondering if that “slurp, gulp” stuff was just FOX’s master-editors upping the ante a bit. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was just some vigorous necking. Kissing makes interesting noises sometimes.

Melissa’s date seemed to go pretty poorly, and any liking of her I may have had in the begining has steadily faded each time she puts on her “Oh… that’s… er… great!” face when confronted by something she hates. Speaking of faces… every time Sara makes her little coquettish flirting grin I want to smack her. I think (hope?) that she’s only still around because of “Little Evan” and that in the end, he’ll toss her to the curb for Zora.

Poor Mojo… never thought I’d say that. I hated her from day one, but she was kinda pathetic this week, in a weird, desperate way. I’m begining to think she’s not such a gold-digger, just that she’s … er… “25” and lonely.

I got news for you: oral **sex** is a form of sexual intercourse. That’s why it’s called **sex**. Perhaps you mean that they were not having **coitus** (penis entering vagina), another type of sexual intercourse.

**RickJay** , excellent post.

I just watched that new show _Pulse_, on which they talked to him and his family, and now I’m back at my original assessment of him: that he is in fact a remarkably ordinary, almost shy guy. They asked him if he found someone he wanted to marry, and he answered that he found someone with whom he had “chemistry.” So now I’m thinkin’ he’s going with Sarah in the end, because of their little tryst and because he feels too uncomfortable with Zora.

Sarah’s past? It looks like it was a really embarrassing sort of summer job. They didn’t even take their clothes off, and the videos were so clearly for a very specialized audience that one could be relatively certain that no one would find out about it.
