# Joe Thiesmann and the crutched crotch catch

I just saw this on TV.

Joe Thiesmann is on the street on some news program, and he tells a kid (10 or so years old) to go out for a pass.

The kid has a broken leg or something, and is hobbling around on crutches.

He hobbles maybe 30, 40 feet away, and Thiesmann throws. . .

. . . landing right in the kid’s crotch.

The kid was OK about it, but it was kinda creepy watching Thiesmann and these other news types laughing about it.

I’ve seen that hit Theismann took and I think he has earned the right to laugh at somebody else’s minor pain. Yeeee!

I saw it live! (on TV anyway) I still shudder when see it in replays. That sucker snapped right in half.

I guess we’re sort of hijacking this thread to talk about “The Injury.” I was a college freshman at the time, and a life long Redskins fan. Everyone in the dorm was watching the game. Generally, we kept our doors open all the time, so we could go in and out of each other’s rooms as we pleased. When Taylor sacked Theismann, every room in the dorm went “Oooooooooooh” We spent most of the rest of the game going into each other’s rooms and talking about it. I’ve never felt sick watching football till that moment. And being a Redskin fan made it all the worse.

That was one of three times I nearly hurled watching TV.

The second time was watching “Bass-O-Matic”

The third time was watching “Small Wonder.” 🙂
