I always use to confuse these two. They did look remarkably similar. Jerry Maguire hit the scene right around the time of Chasing Amy. I’d seen both in small parts before, but these films were there Big breaks. There was a third actress coming up around that time (circa 96-97) who looked like these two. But I can’t remember who she was! I recall there was a blurb in EW (96-97) about how people always confused the three. It basically showed their pictures and what they had done. I think I remember it being on the same page as the Hot Sheet. Does anyone remember who she was? ---

You’re not alone. In a recent episiode of _Dinner for Five_ on the Independent Film Channel, Joey Lauren Adams tells a story of how she was mistaken for Renee by the producer of **Chasing Amy**!! I’ve never confused the two, and it surprised me to hear that so many people do. ---

I don’t either. Sure, they look a little bit like each other, but I would have no problem distinguishing the three. I used to know a woman who looked STRIKINGLY like Jewel… I miss her. Why, oh why did I not stay in touch with this woman!? ---

I never confused the two, but now that you mention it they are very similar. I bet I’ll start confusing them now, thanks… ---

Interesting. Now that you mention it, yes, I see a resemblance too. The odd thing is, I have always thought Joey was hot and Renee just OK. ---

Joey is definitely hotter than Renee. Once I actually saw Chasing Amy, I never got them confused. I think I must have just thought the girl from JM had a new movie coming out with Ben affleck. ---

Apparently they both starred in _Dazed and Confused_, though Renee is not credited as doing so. I’ve not seen the movie, so I can’t say for sure. ---

She’s not yet famous enough to be confused with the other three, but [Julie Benz](http://solitaryphoenix.com/Julie_Benz.jpg) (Darla on _Buffy the Vampire Slayer_ and its spinoff _Angel_) also looks a lot like them. She even has Joey Lauren Adams’s helium voice to boot. ---
