Earlier today John L from They Might Be Giants announced on their social media that John Flansburgh was in a serious car wreck last night after a show. Seven broken ribs, some with multiple fractures. A short time ago John F posted from the hospital. He said he was using a car service after a gig in NYC when they were t-boned and his car flipped. They were just starting a tour that was twice postponed due to the pandemic. I have tickets to see them August 31st. John L said maybe they might be able to pick up their dates after August 30th. That’s cutting it a little close for me. I’m hoping for a quick and full recovery. I’m also hoping I’ll get to see them after paying for these tickets 2 years ago. ---

If he’s got seven busted ribs, he ain’t doing NUTHIN’ for months. Those babies take forever to heal, because…you know…you gotta breathe! And his spring chicken days are long gone. ~VOW ---

When I explained my plan to the doctor, he explained I had broken seven ribs (a majority of the ribs on my right side) and some of them in multiple places, and I wasn’t going to be anywhere but in a bed for the foreseeable future. ---

Mr VOW was older than John F by a few years when he busted a couple of ribs. He had to sleep upright in the recliner for more than a week, and the belt on his jeans aggravated the pain. He had to wear suspenders instead. It took well over six months before he could take a deep breath again. And the residual soreness lasted longer than a year. @Loach check into a refund for your tickets. ~VOW ---

I don’t care if I have to wait ten years. I am holding my tickets and I am going to that Flood show. This is awful. They did some fundraisers for their crew during lockdown since everyone was out of work for so long. They get one show in and then this happens. I hope he and the driver make the speediest recovery possible. ---

On their Facebook page John F posted he is home after a 6 day hospital stay. The attached article said the other driver was arrested for DWI and resisting arrest after trying to flee the scene. ---

I’ve seen Them five times, in five different states, but not recently. Wish I’d known they were going to be in Boston. Of the 5 shows, they had 3 really good opening acts. ---

I saw them a few years ago at the House of Blues on Lansdowne St., and there was no opening act that time, either. In case anyone is interested, the acts were the Presidents of the United States of America (just before they hit it big), Cub (a cuddlecore trio from Vancouver), and Lincoln (who I never, ever heard from again). ---
