Crap. Loved that guy. Very cool of him to parody his famous _Alien_ scene in _Spaceballs_. Memorable in many films, including the otherwise meh _The Field_. ---

A quote of his (according to IMDb): “We are all racing towards death. No matter how many great, intellectual conclusions we draw during our lives, we know they’re all only man-made, like God. I begin to wonder where it all leads. What can you do, except do what you can do as best you know how.” Also, they claim he has the record for on-screen deaths – 47 (!). ---

☹ A great talent. My favorite film of his was the somewhat obscure “The Shout” where he and his wife (Susannah York) are traumatized by a sociopathic Alan Bates. Little known fact: Hurt was a good friend of and partying companion of John Entwistle. ---

He scared the absolute shit out of me in _The Elephant Man_. I was 7 when that film came out. And it still fucking haunts me. I also loved him in the extremely underrated _[From the Hip](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093051/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_139)._ RIP. One of my favorite actors. ---
