John Oliver interviews Edward Snowden

That article is right that Snowden is self-important, and thinks of himself as a hero. Some of the coverage of him has seemed a bit over the top to me, like the cover of Wired Magazine where he’s holding an American flag.

But that article is also making it sound like it’s no big deal that the government is collecting so much of our data, because there’s no evidence that anyone is doing bad things with our data.

Yeah, unlike Oliver’s interview, that Federalist piece reads mainly like a bunch of ad hominems from an NSA shill who already despised Snowden.

I’m not sure what you mean. Snowden was clearly uncomfortable with Oliver not letting up on the questioning, which they call out, and Oliver didn’t let him get away with soft answers.

Full credit to your user name, by the way. Now I have THAT happily stuck in my head.

I thought Snowden had been briefed on the dic pic angle and that there would have been agreement on the styling (for example being interrupted, Oliver not accepting geeky responses). Th elittle pieces that made Oliver looked a bit of a hard ass or at least may have placated some of the ‘traitor’ demographic.
