# John Paul Stevens - did he have a son?

I went to Kenwood school in Chicago in Hyde Park in the late 40s and early 50s. I sort of remember a guy in my class who told me his grandfather owned the Stevens Hotel. I think. According to recent obits, that boy could have been related to the late justice. I wonder if it was his son? Any ideas? I would almost guess that his name was John, also. No simple searching tells me enough to go on. Anyone have any ideas?

Yes. According to [ABC news](https://abcnews.go.com/US/retired-supreme-court-justice-john-paul-stevens-died/story?id=64379900)

He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Jane Sesemann and Susan Roberta Mullen, nine grandchildren: Kathryn, Christine, Edward, Susan, Lauren, John, Madison, Hannah, Haley, and 13 great grandchildren. His first wife Elizabeth Jane, his second wife, Maryan Mulholland, \*\* his son, John Joseph\*\*, and his daughter, Kathryn, preceded him in death.

Ah, thank you. So, some 65 or 70 years later, a retroactive brush with fame. Much like the time we were in a restaurant and were told that William “Refrigerator” Perry and his party were going to be sitting at a table next to us. They never came in, but that was another brush with fame. What a life! Thank you, Dopers.
