If you say you support the right to abortion politically, yet you don’t support the legal foundation for the right, then you’re going to have to put forth another legal foundation to replace the one you don’t agree with. Because if you take away the legal foundation, the practical result will be that several states will choose to ban abortion, in which case the pro-choice crowd will be justified in concluding that you’re not much of an ally. ---

The remedy for covering a circumstance not covered in the constitution is to make a law or ammendment which does. A flimsy legal foundation can be eroded and taken away. ---

But abortion _is_ covered under the Constitution, at least according to the Supreme Court in _Roe v Wade_. If your position is that _Roe v Wade_ was a shoddy decision, well…that may be so. But it’s the decision we have, and pro-choicers have to make do with it. ---
