I hate to let the air of of some of your balloons, but the idea of “corporate masters” looking over shoulders in newsrooms and approving or disapproving news content simply doesn’t happen.
I worked in the TV news business for ten years. I would assert that the vast majority of those of you who cling to the above scenario have never even been inside a television station, let alone a newsroom.
I was a producer. That meant that it was completely up to me what stories went into the newscast, in what order and how much emphasis was given to them. Not once was the political content of my news stories questioned or changed.
