BTW my sisters and many of their friends think I’m not just mentally ill, I’m also demon possessed. While I was in the hospital one time, the former boyfriend of my sister wrote in a letter that I am possessed by an “intellectual” demon. ---

Each and every post JC makes in the GD thread is more of a “down the rabbit hole/through the looking glass” bit of denying that he’s a truther when the posts actually show him to be one. Hey, speaking of CTs, how about these? [ol][li]CTs, such as Pearl Harbor, 9/11, JFK assassination, etc., are just a cover for anti-Semitism. 9/11 especially pulls that out of a lot of the CTers. It’s rather sad.[/li][li]Many, if not all, of the CTs are a reaction that certain racial/ethnic/religious groups simply could not do something without the assistance of a particular majority (white, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant, of course). Take Pearl Harbor for example. The CTers simply cannot accept that the Japanese could have done that on their own, without the help of some white guy(s). The favorite choice for which particular white guy is FDR. I know someone who’s firmly convinced that FDR orchestrated the attack. The same person thoroughly despises the Japanese to this day, even little Japanese kids today, for attacking Pearl Harbor. When I asked him why he hates the Japanese for doing what the president ordered (mind you, I don’t believe that claptrap of course), he just looks at me like _I_ am the crazy one.[/li][li]Combination of 1 & 2: We’ll take 9/11 for this example. The CTers just cannot accept the simple fact that some Muslim Arabs managed to carry out a vicious attack on US soil. So the CTers pull out their hatred of Jews and blame _them_ for the attacks.[/ol][/li] These “theories” about the CTs at least have the benefit of having more evidence supporting them than any damn thing truthers have come up with. Which reminds me: JohnClay, you’re a truther. ---

Such views not only don’t help people with mental illnesses to recover, but actually hinder recovery. I hope that, whatever your relationship with your sister and her friends, you do **not** believe that you are possessed by demons (which - and I want to stress this -\* is not a real thing that happens\*) and that you are receiving help from qualified and capable medical professionals. And I also hope that by now you fully accept that the WTC was brought down by two very large airplanes full of fuel crashing into the towers at high speed, and subsequent collateral damage. There is no evidence to support the alternative theories. (Whether you want to believe that the Bush administration either actively or passively caused the hijackings to happen is a different issue, of course. There’s little evidence for that either, but at least it doesn’t require ignoring basic physics to believe it.) ---

Do you really want to live your whole life with other people walking on eggshells around you because they think anything they say or do might make you unstable? I’d be mortified to be condescended to in that way. That’s not a good frame of mind to be in. ---

I’m enthusiastically in favor of people being held accountable for what they say regardless of what issues they may have. How else are we going to learn what is and isn’t appropriate, reasonable, or sound? It’s especially important for people who have difficulty picking up subtle social cues. ---
