My drill sergeant\* spoke in terms like “I want all you swinging-richards to form-up, NOW!” No joneses or johnsons amongst the recruits. He also said, “I can only promise you two things - death and destruction.” How prescient… - CID later interviewed me about the drill chief’s soliciting bribes but that’s another story. ---
