Johnson/Weld campaign

Always relevant. Maybe Johnson could use a few of his lines. I mean, it’s not like he’s using them anymore.

But Johnson still couldn’t come up with a single name of a current world leader.

I get that libertarians (or Libertarians if that’s preferred) are isolationists and think the rest of the globe unimportant, but…geez. This is one seriously uninformed guy.

He couldn’t even throw out a simple “I’d like to shag Justin Trudeau.” Pathetic.

That would have been a headline-grabber, for sure!

My favorite comment on this from NPR:

I’m actually astonished at Gary Johnson’s level of ignorance. He’s a fucking moron. Doesn’t know what Aleppo is, can’t name a single world leader he admires and god knows what else he doesn’t know. I almost think Trump knows more about the world that this fidgety idiot.

ETA: I mean, Trump could have at least said Vladimir Putin. Ha.

At this point I’m not sure it even matters. No one is voting for Johnson anymore expected him to actually occupy the White House. Now he’s just the outlet for voters who won’t vote for Clinton or Trump. And since he’s taking votes from both, unlike Stein, his presence in the race doesn’t do any harm.

That was really painful to watch. I am all for weed legalization, but frankly this guy is not helping. :smack:

Johnson did score a major endorsement today. The Detroit News, for the first time in its’ history endorsed someone other than the Republican nominee. Unlike Dallas Morning News or Arizona Republic, they just couldn’t pull the trigger for Hillary. (Wait, let me rephrase that.)

Johnson is the top article on the front page of CNN.com for the first time, but with the headline “Campaign’s new punching bag.” Ouchies: http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/29/politics/gary-johnson-hillary-clinton-donald-trump/index.html

There’s votes to be had there by diminishing Johnson’s support, but the major candidates have to be careful not to alienate his supporters either.

Mostly he’s diminishing his support all on his own. Well and the natural tendency of voters to actually vote for a candidate that has a chance at winning, especially if the election is not a complete blowout.

He’s increasingly showing that he is not a serious candidate and that even he does not view himself as one.

Typical libertardianism.

His support isn’t actually diminishing though, probably because once he appeared to be locked in at 8-10% that’s where he was going to stay. I see no reason to change my vote. If he gets up to 30% then I’ll start thinking about how qualified he is.

I have always found “glibertarianism” more satisfying.

It looks to me like he is hemorrhaging. Possibly it is just a blip. Or maybe the Bluntmen are just forgetting to answer the phone.

538 does seem to, at the moment, be predicting Johnson will get about 7-8% of the popular vote (but not enough in any one area to get an electoral). Whether it strictly matters or not, the fact that no candidate is predicted to be anywhere near a majority of the popular vote due to the volume going to him is pretty striking.

It doesn’t help that neither of the major party candidates should be President.

Speak for yourself – I’m quite satisfied with the major party candidate in my party.

RCP averages he peaked at about 9.2 on 9/14 and is now down to 7.2. You’ve already stated that if you thought Florida and the election overall was close you would change your vote. And made a well spoken case for why you “think she actually will be a pretty good President.”

Do try to stay consistent!
