But I suspect the 2nd debate might be Trump unleashed. ---

Why is **nobody** in the media jumping on Trump’s casual suggestion that China should invade North Korea, like war is just a board game? Christ, they disemboweled Howard Dean for a loud throat clearing. ---

Clinton had problems with the truth, especially when she was warmongering. Her bit on Iran was especially disturbing, trumpeting propaganda from far right hawks about how Iran was weeks away from nuclear capabilities. In fact, Iran had given up on pursuing this years before and it was public knowledge that they had done so. It’s sad she was not questioned on her apocalyptic plans for a no-fly zone in Syria. Recently the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said a no-fly zone, like Clinton favors, would require a war with Russia. This is a sad time in US history. One would think questioning Clinton on her recklessness towards Russia would be of mild concern to potential voters. No. One funny thing about this debate and Clinton supporters. They were so sure Clinton was going to calmly rattle off bits of awesome policy goodness. That didn’t happen. The only time she showed signs of life was when she was attacking Trump personally. That’s fine. These are two disgusting individuals who should be attacked. It’s obvious by this thread and other analysis that the campaign formula = status quo^2 + 4(attack Trump). Nobody is saying “Oh did you hear that awesome policy Hillary highlighted.” Again this is a good thing, she holds very little sway with the public which is why I favor her victory, but it contradicts pre-debate hopes and expectations. ---

We aren’t talking policy because we are all playing pundit and voters don’t care. But the truth is Clinton talked a lot about policy. She gave several multi-prong plans on things like policing and economic growth. I agree that her foreign policy and national security policies are not great. But the bad parts of them Trump agrees with or would make worse, so there’s not much to discuss. ---

I wish someone would say “Okay, dickhead, don’t release your 2015 return until the audit is done. But show us 2000 thru 2014” Trump reminded me of a little kid that hasn’t learned to blow his nose but instead sucks his snot back in every few seconds. Jesus, that was annoying. Unless you’re a diehard Republican partisan, you have to conclude that Trump laid a massive egg last night. She was prepared and lively, he continues to be the kid that skims Cliff Notes right as the exam is handed out. ---

The narrative is that Iran is a dangerous enemy who’s been six months away from a nuke for a decade and still might be making secret nukes after the deal. Talking up the advantages of diplomacy makes her the dove candidate this cycle. ---

Wouldn’t a true warmonger eschew negotiation in favor of saber-rattling and military adventurism? ---

Trump sounded like a fifth-grader trying to bullshit his way through an oral report on a book he hadn’t read. Brain working faster than his mouth? I’d flip that around. Hillary did pretty well by comparison. There were times when she also was clearly winging it, and there was too much of the same vague cliché- and platitude-ridden politician speak, but good God, at least she knows how to put words in order. I doubt Trump was on coke, if for no other reason then because a coke high doesn’t last 90 minutes, and there was no opportunity to sneak off stage for another bump. Jonesing in front of millions with an hour to go on the clock isn’t my idea of a good time.
