> I’d read in an online article that she wanted the experience of having only one infant, after dealing with the constant demands of two. I’ll suggest that undergoing fertility treatment with the aim of having a **single** child, when you’re opposed to reduction, is not a recommended way to achieve that aim.

I agree with you – they would have known multiples were a real possibility.

> They were trying for one more and six lived. (One died IIRC.) Reducing isn’t an option for some people and that’s not a “bad choice”.

If reducing “isn’t an option” for some people, then those people shouldn’t be getting loaded up with fertility drugs in order to have singles. It was irresponsible for these two emotional children to have a litter of babies.

> I also think the way she’ll yell at him in stores and the like is annoying. Or well, used to I guess. Also how she’d be so petty about what the kids wore–like they had to get super dressed up to go to Crayola Factory but they couldn’t play with “messy” items because of their nice clothes. She just seems super controlling and family trips don’t sound so fun with her.

That’s another problem with the show. It started out being about the struggles of trying to raise eight kids, which, on the surface anyway, is an interesting idea.
From what I saw, however, in the later seasons it turned more into a celebrity of the week - Hey, look it’s Emeril, or it’s the guys from American Chopper! - or fancy outing of the week type show.

You’re right–I retract my comment in the sense that it was a bad choice to have fertility treatments knowing multiples were likely.
