You guys are forgetting that this is a known phenomenon with that type of editing where it is possible to make anybody seem hypocritical by taking their words out of context, in much the same way any movie review can seem positive by taking every other word out of a sentence or skipping negative words.
It’s certainly possible to take quotes out of context with editing, but do you think that was done here? The Ford quote sure as hell wasn’t taken out of context.
“Hey you dirty Middle Easterners! We’re going to pay 30% more for our own oil, so you can sell your cheap oil to China so they can make products cheaper than we can and sell them to the world!”
That’ll show 'em.
Yar, I don’t catch him often, but that bit struck me enough that when I saw the title, I opened it just to post that one. Dayum.
BTW, the Ford speech reminded me of what it was to have a president that actually said something, and didn’t just politically correct his way across the screen. And I like Obama, and am very glad he’s the pres right now, but…dayum. That bit was painful.
