Haw, haw, haw, haw, haw! Yes, I’ve seen that very thing. Not going to say where, though.
Seriously PlainJain, what about posters? They are paid as much as moderators after all. Is the vulgarity you’ve displayed in this thread especially professional? I think not. Now I know you’re thinking something like, “I don’t have line authority.” Well so what? I say only somewhat facetiously that your posts in this thread have not delivered Total Customer Satisfaction for me. Nobody forces you to post here PlainJane: you do so voluntarily. Manners!
The only reason I can think of to get all thin skinned about sighs while swearing like a fishwoman would be if you have problems with authority. Maybe there are others. And this “customer” (for I really don’t consider myself one) does not. I do however expect better service from my post providers.
I remind my fellow posters that PlainJane has written that this board would do just fine without moderation, like the rest of the internet (her words, my paraphrase, IIRC). And furthermore if you don’t agree with her, you lack experience in such matters. Just so we know what lies behind her posts.

Thanks for giving me a laugh of the day, this has to be the biggest mountain from molehill EVER.

(Poster sighs wearily)
Hyperbole much? I just noted my feelings in the only place on this board I’m allowed to. I even said IMO. It’s not like i started a thread about it. But I see you are trying to build a mountain out of it. Shovel on, Garth.
In the most douchy, condescending, and unnecessary way you could.
Mirror much?
Are you being serious? Omg, honey. Go back and read my first post again.
I’ve said good things about JC in the past. In this instance I think he’s being condescending and I said so in the only forum I’m allowed to.
But white knight away if you must.
While I might see your point, this:
does not have the same tone as this:
Which of these tones are you asking people to model?
So then I’m being taken to task for the way I said it and not on whether my point has merit? Got it.
I don’t think what I said was “douchey, condescending or unnecessary”. Strongly to the point, ok, but so what. The criticism I’m taking here is no differently worded.
Isn’t that the point you’re trying to make? You don’t like the way he said it and not whether his point had merit.
It takes a lot more to type "This has been explained before but I’ll repeat it " rather than give a a “The Moderator Sighs Wearily” . But of course you lose the smugness and arrogance.
The Moderator in question is certainly not wrong, but I believe there are other ways to explain the situation and remain professional.
I understand Moderating is voluntary. It is also not mandatory.
MODERATOR SPEAKS: I said before, drop the personality comments. And this has now gone far afield. Since PlainJain implies her comment was merely a tangential aside (not a separate thread), so it’s now run its course and this thread is done.
