I think the Jon-John thing is understandable, at least for people that have never seen the name in writing. But some of the names I have been called, yeesh! My name is Todd. I have been called Tod Bob Robert Jo(h)n Scott Henry And from a company that desperately wanted my money: Toddral 😕 ---

I’ve got a vendor who’s name is Todd. He goes by Toddums, God help me. Even has that on his license plate. It’d be a deal-breaker but he provides REALLY good pricing. ---

Feh. At least Jonathan is a common name. Try living with “Kerri”. My aunt and uncle have been married for 20 years, they still can’t get my name down correctly. Every year my birthday/Christmas presents from them are labeled Kerrie, Karri, Karrie, Carrie, Carey, or Kerry. Not once has it been spelled correctly. I get mail addressed to Karen, Karyn, Carol, Corrine, and Kerwin. (Where they got the last one, I don’t know.) And no, don’t get me started on my last name. That’s just an added bonus when I get married to **Boyfriend** , changing my last name to something completely recognizable and relatively easy to spell! ---

My middle name is a family name. From my father’s side of the family. Every year, without fail, one of his brothers sends out a family calendar. Every year since the first one I was born, he’s spelled my middle name O’Brien or O’Brian or O’Bryen or something other than O’Bryan. Every year we’ve corrected him. Every year he gets it wrong. I don’t even want to know how he’s going to mangle **fizzy** ’s name. ---
