Very nice live performance of Woodstock by Joni Mitchell (piano arrangement). Looks like it’s been online for at least a couple of years, so some or most of you have probably already seen it. Thanks, alovem. I hadn’t seen this before. I enjoy when artists go into the studio and perform their songs without a massive audience or band backing them. It’s very private and personal this way. ---

Hey, glad to share stuff like this. I’ve listened to very little of her work, mostly tracks that got airplay in the 1980s (WXRT), and this moved me deeply. > It’s very private and personal this way. Yeah, intimate. It might be best viewed at night near a crackling fire. ---

I’m a big fan of Joni, and this is the first time I’ve seen it. Thanks. It never ceases to amaze me just how incredibly talented she is. Sadly, she did not perform at Woodstock. Her manager urged her not to go. He was afraid she might miss her scheduled appearance on the Dick Cavett Show the following Monday if she went. Bad call. ---

A friend of mine was in high school in Saskatoon with Joni. He told me that at a grad party, he was sitting next to her at a pool and asked what her plans were. She said that she was going to travel with her guitar and sing. He thought to himself “Oh Joni, I hope you’ve got a back-up plan.” When he was telling this to me, he grinned and said, “Boy, was I wrong!” ---
