Mini pickup in front of me seems to be taking an awful long time leaving the window after he got his food, but maybe he doesn’t have all his order? Nope, when he finally left the girl told me he was just sitting there getting his life in order and it took two suggestions from her to get him to move along. Additional asshole points to this guy because she felt like she should give me something free because I had to wait for him! :smack: ---

Grandpa, Dad and two young girls in soccer outfits. Grandpa orders. Dad Orders. Girls take forever to order…water. Grandpa tries to argue them into getting pop. I’m still waiting behind them. They pay for their stuff, then stand there milling about in front of the register, grandpa standing there slack jawed and staring off into space like a stroke victim. Cashier is looking at me, I’m looking at them, wondering when the fuck they’re going to wake up and move aside. Cleared my throat. They looked all around like they were suddenly confused to find themselves in a DQ, then finally took their cups and twaddled over to the machine to fill them. Next suggestion for when I’m Emperor of the World: Shock Collars that automatically detect when you’re making other people wait for no reason. ---

Came back from a camping trip this evening, and I have to say, there is nothing that is bugging the shit out of me more than bugs (makes sense). Damn, those mosquitos over there wouldn’t even stay away after applying repellant! ---

As for underwires, I think I’ve worn them during nearly all my plane travel and the only time they caused any hint of trouble was in one time I got body-scanned and the (female) TSA agent had to do a quick prod alongside to confirm that was all an underwire. On my own end of things: Fuck cancer. It’s apparently about to take one of my favorite sisters-in-law. She had a rare type that spread all over, slowly at first, during the course of the last decade or so and now it sounds like she only has weeks to live. And I will put down even odds that this will be a good trigger for a conspiracy-minded SIL to pull out her “pharma companies are hiding the cure for cancer and want people to buy their poisonous chemo drugs because those make more money!!1” ravings. You’d think these super-powerful pharma companies could have made a chemo drug that would have kept her alive longer, then, to keep buying more of it. I’m really, really sick of death right now (having lost during the last couple months both the beloved uncle who saved me from drowning when I was little, and my mother-in-law), and I’m worried that any bullshit like that will set me off. I’m really good at holding my tongue normally. ---

Straight-up anxiety attack at 5 am yesterday morning made me miss my morning long run. I couldn’t get out of bed. Gave myself an hour…nope. Another hour…nope. When it finally subsided enough so I could function it was too late because I already had plans to meet a friend for coffee. Now I’m behind on my training schedule and need to giv’er this week to catch up. At least my Jeep’s alternator held out long enough to get me through all my errands before finally dying in the parking lot of my last errand. It sucks when your beloved vehicle gets old and things start falling apart. ---

Had my followup today at the hospital and she decided that I’m okay with just diet to control my GD. That said, I’m under strict instructions to get myself back there if I go over something like 170. Sure I could go for a rant. It’s Wild Kingdom in my back yard this month. Racoons, possums, rabbits, foxes, deer, snakes, groundhogs. The racoons, foxes, and snakes are trouble for my hens, I believe it was a raccoon that killed 2 hens. I paid $250 (!) for an automatic chicken door that closes at dusk and opens at dawn. Better than having to be home every night at dusk. I caught a big snake in a nesting box yesterday, he was after the eggs no doubt. No wonder egg production from my 2 remaining hens had been down. ---

Full Circle 12 years ago I quit my IT job because I was a bitter, angry person who hated his job, himself, the entire world and everyone and everything in it. I got married and divorced. I worked crappy jobs. I went through bankruptcy 3 years ago. Spent a lot of time learning who and what I was. Then I got this job on an 18 month contract, 17 months ago. Pay I could actually live on (50% more than my previous job) and a job I really loved doing. Six months ago I started working on getting them to hire me. In late June, they officially interviewed me for the position. A week later I had a panel interview. Have spent the time since then as a nervous wreck. An hour ago I got the official job offer. For nearly $15k more than the salary range that was discussed and confirmed in both interviews. 90% more than I’m currently making as a contractor. I can’t stop shaking. If I wasn’t at work, I’d be crying with joy and relief. I think I will do that as soon as I get home. ---
