People who go _exactly_ or lower than the speed limit at all times… Yes, I get they’re being safe, and I get it, but…dude? Don’t you ever want to go a teensy bit faster? Like, we’re on this gorgeous country road, and no one is around for miles, and it’s a beautiful sunny day, and the speed limit is 45, so you’re maintaining a steady 43? Even down hills? Don’t you ever get the teensiest urge to put it to 50? I’m not asking you to be a speed demon. I just don’t get how you can be sooooo nervous that you never, ever get the urge to go just a little bit faster. ---

My gf is in advertising. One of their clients is doing a big advertising blitz, spending more than they ever have. It is timed to coincide with the RNC and involves banner ads on related sites. The client is nervous about this big step. So, there is a conference call as the ads go live, involving over a dozen people at the company and the ad agency. The head of the company freaks out because the ad isn’t there!! There is yelling, attempts to placate, etc back and forth. IT folks are rushing around. Finally my gf asks, “Hey Jim, it’s me. You aren’t running ad-blocking software on your computer, are you?” After a minute of silence, Jim comes back. “Umm, yeah, looks like the problem was on our end”. ---

When I drive cross-country, I stay in the right lane at or just below the speed limit. Still find I’m faster than over half the vehicles. But it is fun to (as on my last trip in June), watch an SUV with blackened windows and Illinois plates blow past me at 90 in the 75 zone and then see it pulled over 10 mile down the road. If I’m driving country roads and ended up on someone’s ass, I’ll pass them. If they’re stuck to my ass, I’ll go out of my way to slow down and allow (or force, if necessary) them to pass me. Then again, the four lane road right in front of my apartment complex is a 50 zone, and you’d swear that people who’ve lived here for 20 years have not once ever read the damned speed limit signs. It isn’t a fucking 35 zone… :mad: ---

So I use cruise control a lot. I even use it on the street to my house because the speed limit is 35 and I have a very hard time going that slowly, plus the cops like to hang out in the LDS church parking lot so: cruise control. ---

In this area, people going 15 mph or more below the posted limit are texting, drunk, or driving the car as fast as it will go. 🙂 ---

I can’t wait till Donald Trump’s plane stops flying between NYC and Cleveland. He flies into the small downtown airport near the lake, rather than the larger one that everyone else uses. And apparently he never stays in Cleveland, but flies back to New York right away. I rarely hear planes from that airport, but his is LOUD, unsurprisingly. Just one more thing about him that repulses me. ---

Fuck cancer. My mother in law is getting a full mastectomy and a lumpectomy on September 8th. I will be with her, her older son has a two year old daughter and he and his wife work more than full time and my ex husband never sees his mother. It happens to be on my birthday which sucks. Not because I’m “its all about me!!!” on my birthdays. But my Great Grandmother ((my namesake) and one grandfather were buried on my birthday. My Grandmother died on September 9th. Another Grandfather entered palliative care on my birthday and died on the 11th. This is not a good year for me, I’ve lost a few people and have a few diagnoses going on in my family. My mother in law had a stroke 2 years ago and has high blood pressure, high cholesterol and atrial fibrillation. Yeah, I hate this year. I was complaining about March, then the entire season of spring. Hello2017? ---
