I was in a hotel lobby this week and overheard a customer (a man) complaining to the hotel manager (a woman). It went something like this: Customer: But I called and cancelled the room and re-booked for tonight. Manager: I’m sorry but you can’t cancel and rebook someone else’s room. That person would have to call. C: Well when I called yesterday they said it was taken care of. M: Who did you talk to? C: I don’t know her name. The little girl you had here yesterday. M: LITTLE GIRL?? LET ME TELL YOU… (begin epic rant). I sat and laughed my ass off at the idiot customer, who did not get the result he wished for. ---

BUT last time I went to the eye doctor she mentioned something about bifocals and chortled and I kind of wanted to kick her (she’s like 13 years younger than me.) I don’t mind getting older, but what the fuck? 40 just kicked my ass. My whole body was like “Ok, we can give up now!” Even exercise is like 100x harder suddenly. ---

I didn’t think much of turning 40, but since then, my gallbladder gave out, sprained a knee, needed physical therapy for muscle weakness that resulted in knee pain after the sprain, started using progressive lenses (at least my eye doc is same age and was already wearing progressives himself when he told me he was adding it to my Rx) and all my shoes are orthotic or have inserts. Pfft. ---

Repeated for everyone who is aging; When my older sister turned 50, I gave her a HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY! card. Inside I wrote “Don’t you wish it was only 40?” She just turned and gave me a solemn nod. Yes, kiddies, that’s what happens between 40 and 50. ---

The kids that pissed you off weren’t sitting at the bar. You were at the bar, irritated by children who were at a table in the bar area (legal). My advice stands. If you want to avoid kids when you are at a bar/restaurant find one that doesn’t welcome children. TGIFridays bills itself as family friendly. ---

To be fair he DID say the 5 year old was on the bar stool next to him. At the bar. Where it’s illegal for a child to be. I also contend that a place like TGIFridays isn’t near the bottom of the list of places I would consider to go alone for a drink after work because it’s not even on the list. But it seems to be an ongoing theme with this guy and poor choices for places to eat and drink. ---

I am feeling fairly dark lately. I am on the hunt for a job, and yesterday I had (what I felt was) a promising interview. I fully expected to get the call for a second interview today, by the deadline I was given …and ZIP. Zilch. Nada. Ok. Maybe I was mistaken about the rapport I thought we had. So why am I unemployable? Why do I suck so bad? ---

People on my FB feed are posting pics of their sunburns like they’re trying to garner sympathy. Um, no. People so stupid as to get burned like that these days get no response from me. If I was better at being funny-mean, I’d post something about how dumb they are, but I’m sure to offend and it’s not quite that worth it. ---

These things take time, people get busy or get pulled away for some important issue, so maybe it will take another day. I can’t tell you how many interviews I’ve had that I thought went well that apparently didn’t. Last time I was out of work it took months and a dozen different interviews to get back into a job. Doesn’t mean you suck, just that you don’t fit in that place at that time. ---

This was a place for “mini” rants and I let off one. 90% of the restaurant space was open that could have accommodated space for this family. One of the children, if you read my post, WAS sitting at the bar (illegal). Don’t give me the “Family friendly” bullshit. I must ask what on this homepage screams “Family Friendly” to you?
